Dying for a biscuit

Panorama have a programme on this evening in the UK (BBC1 8.30pm) which highlights palm oil and the devastation it is causing to the rainforest and wildlife.

The region in which it was recently filmed is one which Hardi (Centre for Orangutan Protection) and Nature Alert have been shouting 'emergency - please help' to everyone for a long time, particularly governments and the media. Panorama went to West Kalimantan because of this.

Please watch it if you can.

  1. Hi - I watched Panorama and have been delighted by the interest shown. You've done some great work here! I too am trying to go palm oil free but you are doing better than me because you are tackling cosmetics and detergents too.

    Keep up the great work!

  2. Thanks for your interest and encouragement, Neil. The only disappointment for me with the Panorama programme was it left the viewer feeling that the Indonesian government was going to clamp down on the illegal logging and palm oil growing highlighted by the Panorama team. I am hoping they follow up to ensure that they did do something about it as I'm not convinced the government will act against the industries which bring in so many dollars.
